What is the meaning: 20% off discount?

Hi,

A discount is a reduced price from the stated rate or list price, usually offered to a customer as an incentive to make a purchase. Therefore:

20% off discount means that the price now is 20% lower than the standard price

For example: if a DVD player is normally £100, 20% off discount means that the price now is £80.
