AAE Q123: forest or wood

Hi Matt,

Would you mind explaining the difference between wood and forest?

Cheers Joe

Hi,

A forest is much larger and has a denser canopy of leaves; in a forest the branches and foliage of separate trees often meet or interlock. A wood is smaller and more light gets into it (perhaps it is a forest in its teenager years). Apart from this, generally both terms are used interchangeably.

Hope this helps

M
