AAE Q105: 'lives' or 'living'

Hi,

What tense is correct?

“Peter does not live here now.“ or: “Peter is not living here now.“

Thank you for help.

Jirina

Hi,

Both are possible.

The present simple (“Peter does not live here now.“) suggests that it was his long-term place of residence whereas the continuous (“Peter is not living here now.“) suggests that he was only living there for a short time.
